SAMPLE TRAINING EXERCISE

BASE SERIAL NUMBER

1.     Using the SHPBSSN0 file, create a view that includes the EQUIP-MFR-CODE (Make), EQUIP-MFR-MODEL (Model), BASE-PROD-SER-NO (Base Serial Number), BEGIN-PROD-SER-NO (Beginning Serial #), END-PROD-SER-NO (Ending Serial #) and LAST-MAINT-DATE (Last Maintenance Date) fields.

2.     Convert the LAST-MAINT-DATE (Last Maintenance Date) field to date formats using the “cvtdate” conversion.

3.     Give the new field an Alt Name of “LASTMNT”.  Header 1 should be LAST MAINT.

4.     Choose LSMN8 >0 and LASTMNT >= “01/01/07”.

5.     Sort the results by Make, Model, Base Serial Number.

6.     Display the results.

7.     Save the view in your library as BASESN.  The description should be Base Serial Number Info.
